Upgrading of Electricity Transformers Across Ayawaso Central

Improving Power Supply. Supporting Businesses. Protecting Livelihoods.

Recognising the growing pressure on electricity infrastructure within the Ayawaso Central Constituency, Hon. Abdul Rauf Tubazu, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, has been instrumental in advocating for improved electricity distribution infrastructure to meet the needs of residents and businesses.

As part of this intervention, five (5) new 315 KVA electricity transformers are being installed at strategic locations across the constituency to replace and upgrade ageing transformers.

Many of the existing transformers have served communities for more than 30 years. With significant population growth and the rapid expansion of businesses, shops, offices, workshops and other commercial activities, demand for electricity has increased considerably. The capacity of some of the old transformers has consequently become overstretched, contributing to power fluctuations, outages and other challenges for households and businesses.

The installation of the new 315 KVA transformers is therefore a major infrastructure intervention aimed at increasing electricity distribution capacity and improving the reliability of power supply across affected communities.

Expected Impact on Constituents

The intervention is expected to:

  • Improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply to affected communities.
  • Reduce the pressure on ageing and overloaded transformers.
  • Support local businesses that depend on stable electricity for their daily operations.
  • Improve power availability for shops, workshops, offices, schools and households.
  • Accommodate the increasing electricity demand resulting from population growth and expanding commercial activities.
  • Reduce disruptions to livelihoods and business operations caused by inadequate distribution capacity.
  • Provide additional capacity for future growth and development within the constituency.

This intervention demonstrates the MP’s commitment to addressing the practical infrastructure challenges affecting constituents, while working with relevant stakeholders to secure improvements that directly impact everyday life.

Creating Employment Opportunities Through Forklift Training

31 Youth Empowered · 12 Wards Reached · Pathways to Employment Created

Hon. Abdul Rauf Tubazu, MP for Ayawaso Central, has invested in the future of the constituency’s youth by providing practical, employment-focused training in forklift operation.

Through the initiative, 31 young people selected from all 12 wards of Ayawaso Central underwent intensive hands-on training at J.A. Plant Pool Ghana Ltd. and successfully graduated as trained forklift operators.

The programme has equipped beneficiaries with a marketable technical skill that enhances their readiness for employment in logistics, warehousing, construction, manufacturing and other industrial sectors.

This intervention demonstrates the MP’s commitment to turning skills into opportunities, empowering young people to earn sustainable livelihoods, and reducing barriers to employment in Ayawaso Central.

A New Era for Sports: The Panama Astro Turf

An ultra-modern astro turf, commissioned with a grand tournament.

The constituency’s sports infrastructure received a major upgrade with the official commissioning of a newly constructed, ultra-modern astro turf at Panama.

To celebrate the development, an opening-ceremony football tournament was held, drawing large crowds of community members and sports lovers. The high-energy tournament concluded with a thrilling final match.

Following the game, the Member of Parliament, alongside the Municipal Chief Executive and representatives of the Techno team, took to the pitch to present the champion’s trophy to the victorious team.

The Constituency’s First CHPS Compound

Bringing primary health care closer to residents.

Ayawaso Central’s first CHPS compound — a Community-based Health Planning and Services facility — has been built to bring primary health care closer to residents of the constituency.

The two-storey facility provides a dedicated space for community-level health services within Ayawaso Central.

Construction of a Bridge at Alajo North

Construction of a vehicular and pedestrian bridge at Alajo North, specifically around the Seen Cinema area, to provide safe and convenient passage for vehicles, commuters, and pedestrians across the Alajo Heavy Drainage Gutter.

The project will improve accessibility, ease movement within the community, reduce transportation difficulties, and enhance connectivity for residents and businesses in the area.
