Hon. Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu is the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, representing the National Democratic Congress.

Before entering Parliament he worked in business and trade — as Managing Director of Torbazu Enterprise and as Deputy Tender Manager at Japan Motors Trading Company. He holds an MBA in International Business and Corporate Finance from Colorado Heights University, Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ghana.

Education support

Upgrading of Electricity Transformers Across Ayawaso Central

Improving Power Supply. Supporting Businesses. Protecting Livelihoods.

Recognising the growing pressure on electricity infrastructure within the Ayawaso Central Constituency, Hon. Abdul Rauf Tubazu, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, has been instrumental in advocating for improved electricity distribution infrastructure to meet the needs of residents and businesses.

As part of this intervention, five (5) new 315 KVA electricity transformers are being installed at strategic locations across the constituency to replace and upgrade ageing transformers.

Many of the existing transformers have served communities for more than 30 years. With significant population growth and the rapid expansion of businesses, shops, offices, workshops and other commercial activities, demand for electricity has increased considerably. The capacity of some of the old transformers has consequently become overstretched, contributing to power fluctuations, outages and other challenges for households and businesses.

The installation of the new 315 KVA transformers is therefore a major infrastructure intervention aimed at increasing electricity distribution capacity and improving the reliability of power supply across affected communities.

Expected Impact on Constituents

The intervention is expected to:

  • Improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply to affected communities.
  • Reduce the pressure on ageing and overloaded transformers.
  • Support local businesses that depend on stable electricity for their daily operations.
  • Improve power availability for shops, workshops, offices, schools and households.
  • Accommodate the increasing electricity demand resulting from population growth and expanding commercial activities.
  • Reduce disruptions to livelihoods and business operations caused by inadequate distribution capacity.
  • Provide additional capacity for future growth and development within the constituency.

This intervention demonstrates the MP’s commitment to addressing the practical infrastructure challenges affecting constituents, while working with relevant stakeholders to secure improvements that directly impact everyday life.

Featured project

Construction of a Bridge at Alajo North

Construction of a vehicular and pedestrian bridge at Alajo North, specifically around the Seen Cinema area, to provide safe and convenient passage for vehicles, commuters, and pedestrians across the Alajo Heavy Drainage Gutter.

The project will improve accessibility, ease movement within the community, reduce transportation difficulties, and enhance connectivity for residents and businesses in the area.
